Entry from: Taman Negara, Malaysia Entry Title: "Jungle, monkeys, leeches and other creatures" Entry: "We took the train from Kota Balu at 6.30am, which involved getting up at 4.30 so we were very tired. The train is called the Jungle Railway because it goes right through the jungle, so we were surrounded by trees for the whole of the 9 hour ride. It was quite hot on the train but the time passed reasonably quickly. We arrived in Jerantut and found a hotel. That night we had lots of lovely curry and murtabak for dinner and I had a chocolate roti canai. We love Malaysia food! That night, just as we were about to go to sleep, a strange looking bug crawled over me. I tried to squash it but it refused to die. David rolled an aerosol can over it and it burst, splattering fresh blood everywhere, which we thought was possibly ours. About 10 minutes later, another one appeared, and then another. We wondered where they were coming from and so I lifted up the mattress, and there were loads of them, all sleeping in the creases and crawling around. It was horrible! We immediately went to reception and changed rooms to a nicer one with a TV and air con (which we normally can't afford) and they told us they were bed bugs. Lovely.
