Entry from: Aswan, Egypt Entry Title: "Nile & Nubian Bite Marks!" Entry: "On arrival we were introduced to the local drink Hibiscus tea, or Karkadai, drunk hot or cold and sweet or slightly bitter. It is bright red and is used to cool blood and medicinally lowers blood pressure. We arrived in Aswan fairly earl in the morning and were driven straight to the hotel. We were staying in the Sara hotel, overlooking the Nile, right in the heart of the Nubian Desert. After a lazy afternoon we headed by boat to Philae temple, which was amazing. It on a small island and was saved from another location that flooded due to the abrupt building of the two dams in Aswan. After that we took the boats to the westbank of the Nile, drifting through the gorgeous scenery of rich plant life right between the Nile and the desert (quite a contrast), past the city, elephantine Island, desert and many mango trees. We docked at a little 'beach' for a quick swim and strole around the sandy hills. As everywhere in Egypt we were always approached by locals (that seem to pop out from behind bushes and the sand) that were selling us local souvenirs and artifacts.
