Entry from: Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Australia Entry Title: "The red rock" Entry: "Kulgara, Aussie Day 2 was a blur of heat and sweat. We drove with the windows down because using the air conditioning might over heat the engine. Its so hot already that the engine is boiling all by itself. The problem with the engine is that its on the inside of the car between our seats. That means that after driving all day the engine releases all its heat into the van where we sleep. Yah, not so nice when your already dying of heat. We stopped at a roadhouse for some icecream and some ice to keep our cooler and our water cold. When we keep water in the front it gets hot instantly and tastes like poop. So we figured out a way to counteract this. We just added teas leaves to the bottle. Now we were drinking delicious hot tea! Sounds strange but it was more appetizing and we needed fluids! As we drove we were attacked by tumbleweeds sweeping across the highway and we watched dust cyclones form and disappear in the distance. It was beautiful and desolate but most of all it was hot. Our skin burned from the sun and constant application of sun screen was needed especially for the drivers right arm which no matter how hard we tried is more tanned then the left arm now.
